CSG’s cyber essentials event: important updates

Today CSG hosted a detailed cyber essentials event at the chairman’s suite in Cardiff City Stadium. The event, which began at 10:00am and included a lunch and networking session at 12:30pm, was designed to provide businesses with the latest updates on the cyber essentials certification and its upcoming changes in April 2025.

Changes to Cyber Essentials from April 2025 & benefits

The cyber essentials scheme, a cornerstone of the UK’s cybersecurity strategy, is set for significant updates in April 2025. These changes aim to address emerging threats, integrate recent technologies and ensure that organisations adopt a strong cyber security posture to help protect against an increasingly important threat to businesses in all sectors.

The certification not only improves your business security but also builds customer trust, maintains your competitive advantage, and can even reduce your insurance premiums. However, navigating the complexities of Cyber Essentials on your own can be challenging. This is why CSG is here to help you throughout the entire process.

“We had never thought about cyber essentials before CSG. When we look at some of the requirements for our contracts, they demand Cyber Essentials. The proof is in the pudding, we’ve had the certification 3 years running thanks to CSG.” – Franca Muratore, Bawso charity.

The event kicked off at 10:00am with an introduction to the changes in the Cyber Essentials framework, followed by insightful talks from industry experts. The session concluded with a lunch and networking opportunity at 12:30pm, allowing attendees to connect with other local businesses.

Why: adapting to new Cyber Threats

Cyber threats are consistantly becoming more and more advanced which means that the frameworks designed to protect against them must also adapt. There is no better time than now to prepare yourself for Cyber Essentials as more and more businessess are understanding the unique advantages that the certification can provide.

Achieving the cyber essentials certification helps to significantly lower the risk of cyber attacks by implementing essential security measures and controls, protecting your business from common threats.
