Computer Services Group Ltd (CSG) is thrilled to announce its participation in the HM Government's Cyber Explorers Multi School Careers Day, hosted at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
This exciting event was co-ran by Technocamps, a Welsh Government funded scheme that provides free STEM workshops for schools.
The Cyber Explorers Multi School Careers Day aims to ignite curiosity in 11β14-year-old students about future careers in cyber security. Through engaging activities and informative presentations from industry experts, including CSG, students explored the vast possibilities within the cyber field.
Technocamps offers a range of free resources for parents, teachers, and pupils, including:
- π Free resources for parents, teachers, and pupils
- π©βπ« Free CPD opportunities
- π Fully-funded Degree Apprenticeships
- π€ΈββοΈ Seminars and workshops
CSG had the pleasure of supporting Technocamps today by speaking to students from four schools: Afon Taf High School, St Johns College, Brynteg School, and Ysgol Bryn Castell. The pupils were brilliant in getting involved in the different activities, and the CSG team were very impressed with their cyber security knowledge!
“We are thrilled to be part of the Cyber Explorers Multi School Careers Day,” said Ricky Killa, Regional Sales Director at CSG. “Events like these are crucial in sparking interest and providing young students with the knowledge and inspiration they need to pursue careers in cyber security.”
Nick Paul de Jong, National Schools Liaison and Industry Liaison, commented, “On behalf of Cyber Explorers, I want to thank CSG for their amazing presentation today. Eve was brilliant with the students, from a wide range of year groups, and managed to maintain both authority and consistent engagement from a very enthusiastic audience. Very grateful and a great advocate for cyber security. Great stuff.”
CSG are big advocates of apprenticeships and offers numerous opportunities for school leavers to experience the IT industry and support their career growth. Many of our staff started as apprentices and have been with us ever since. One of our team members shared their experience:
“I had just finished my BTEC Level 3 in IT and was ready to start my career in IT. So far, I have passed my apprenticeship and become a 1st Line Engineer. I have also been provided additional training to achieve Microsoft MS-900, Sophos Firewall, and Central qualifications.
Since progressing from being an apprentice to a 1st Line Engineer, I have learnt a lot regarding Office 365, Windows OS, hardware, software, and general networking issues. My apprenticeship has massively helped me learn the basics of IT, hardware repairs, and running a workshop.
Thanks to CSG, I now feel confident going for a permanent role in IT.” – Harry – 3rd Line Engineer.
