Microsoft continues to evolve its cloud offerings, and 2025 has brought several important updates to the Microsoft 365 Business Premium license so far – especially for nonprofit organisations. These changes have a big impact on licensing, pricing, product features and nonprofit-specific benefits.
CSG are here to help you understand what’s changing and how to make the most of your Microsoft investment.
Licensing & pricing changes

New Commerce Experience (NCE) enhancements
As of February 1st, 2025, Microsoft has ended the beta period for the NCE license-based change indicator. This feature is now a permanent part of the monthly price list, making it easier for partners and customers to track changes in pricing and offers.
Pricing adjustments (effective from April 1st, 2025)
- A 5% price increase now applies to annual subscriptions with monthly payment terms.
- Triennial subscriptions can no longer switch billing plans mid-term, meaning changes at the 1- or 2-year mark are no longer allowed. This makes upfront planning more important than ever.
CSG are here to help you discuss your payment so that we can find a solution that works for you.
Important updates for nonprofits

End of 10 free Business Premium licenses
Microsoft is discontinuing the grant of 10 free Microsoft 365 Business Premium licenses for eligible nonprofit organisations. This change is part of a broader shift in Microsoft’s nonprofit strategy, which also includes the retirement of the Office 365 E1 grant.
This update may significantly impact smaller nonprofits that relied on these free licenses. If your organisation is affected, we strongly recommend speaking with your CSG account manager to explore cost-effective alternatives and ensure continuity.
Retirement of fundraising and engagement solution
Microsoft’s fundraising and engagement solution will be retired with technical support ending December 31st, 2026. While security updates will continue until then, no new features have been added since July 15th, 2024. If your nonprofit uses this tool, now is the time to plan your transition – CSG will support you throughout the entire process.
Security & productivity enhancements
Microsoft has added over 20 new product licenses to Business Premium, including:
- Microsoft 365 Copilot – AI-powered productivity tools
- Microsoft Defender for Endpoint – advanced threat protection
- GitHub Enterprise – secure, scalable development tools
These additions are designed to help your organisations boost productivity, enhance security and drive innovation.
Power BI Premium Transition
As of January 31st, 2025, Power BI Premium (P-SKU) has been retired and replaced by Microsoft Fabric (F-SKU). Microsoft Fabric is a unified, AI-powered data platform that integrates analytics, data science, and data lakes—offering a more comprehensive solution for data-driven decision-making.
