Protectorcomms Ltd embrace a complete overview of both electronic and physical security systems to safeguard their clients and their property. With over 30 years of combined experience, the highest industry accreditation and vast local knowledge, Protectorcomms assist in protecting what matters most to you.
With all current line of business software applications being cloud-based, Protectorcomms were keen to move forward with a cloud solution that negated the need for on-site equipment and the accompanying cap-ex outlay. CSG also advised that further investment in Cyber Security was also deemed necessary for the best protection of company and client data.
The background
Protectorcomms’ server was approaching the end of life, with no further warranty extensions available, a solution was required that allowed for this device to be decommissioned, with a view of migrating all its functions to the Microsoft cloud.
CSG also discovered that backup and security measures were also needed to be reviewed to ensure the best protection for the business.
The solution
After undertaking an audit of Protectorcomms’ IT environment, a licensing change to Business Premium was proposed by CSG with a view of decommissioning the on-site server, and utilising active directory services within the cloud, as well as enrolling all endpoints and devices into Microsoft Intune for central management.
Files & folders were migrated from employee desktops to the drive, for access from any location and on any device, which helped facilitate remote working for both engineers on-site, as well as staff working from home throughout the pandemic. Microsoft Teams was already in use by Protectorcomms, and training was provided by CSG in all platforms to ensure efficient use of all platforms.
With data now residing within Microsoft 365, Datto SaaS Protection was deployed to provide a 3x daily backup of their Office 365 Accounts (Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint & Teams) to provide protection against both the accidental and malicious deletion of data.
To complement the existing Sophos email security, further Sophos security solutions were deployed, significantly reducing their chances of falling victim to this exploit, especially with its root cause analysis from a compliance perspective.
To further improve security, security improvements were made to Protectorcomms’ Office 365 tenant, including DNS adjustments to prevent spoof emails being issued from their domain and the enablement of Multifactor Authentication (MFA) which provides a secondary form of user verification, the latter being critical for any company holding data and/or emails within the cloud.
The result
Protectorcomms’ IT environment is now fully cloud-based, with next-generation cyber security enhancements and backups in place to protect the business moving forward.
CSG’s IT Managed Service will continue to support Protectorcomms, as they have done for the past 3 years, offering unlimited remote, telephone and on-site support.
