I wanted to kick-start my IT career after leaving school and the apprenticeship scheme offered by CSG was the perfect opportunity. I have always been interested in IT, ever since my school days. I have always wanted a role that requires me to resolve physical and technical issues, such as MSP/Internal IT. I think apprenticeships are a very good way to start a career because you get to study, alongside on-the-job learning. It's the best of both worlds! I have been able to progress from an apprenticeship to a 2nd Line Technical Engineer. I have also obtained some certifications along the way such as the Microsoft 365 administrator expert certification. I have vastly improved my IT skills and knowledge since starting at CSG. I started CSG with just knowing the basics about IT but now I feel very confident in performing advanced tasks and troubleshooting.
I had just finished my BTEC Level 3 in IT and was ready to start my career in IT. So far, I have passed my apprenticeship and become a 1st Line Engineer. I have also been provided additional training to achieve Microsoft MS-900, Sophos Firewall and Central qualifications. Since progressing from being an apprentice to a 1st Line Engineer, I have learnt a lot regarding Office 365, Windows OS, hardware, software and general networking issues. My apprenticeship has massively helped me learn the basics of IT, hardware repairs and running a workshop. Thanks to CSG I now feel confident going for a permanent role in IT.
I studied IT in college and from this I wanted to get my foot in the door with an IT firm. I chose CSG as it seemed like a good place to work for plus I knew progression was available and since being with CSG, I have been promoted from within. I have now progressed through the ranks up to a Level 2 Engineer, there is still a lot more progress to go so I hope to keep going and keep learning. I have learnt many skills over the years from communication to in-depth networking skills, my skills and knowledge are growing down to the many vendor exams and training courses that I have participated in. I have been at CSG for over 6 years, emphasising the confidence CSG has helped build for me with regards to working within the IT sector.
CSG are large advocates of apprenticeships and have long serving technical staff who have moved through the tiers following completion of their apprenticeships.
