What do you do?
Write Place Media is a well-established, independent and friendly publishing company based in Kenton, Devon. The Write Place Media team are responsible for a selection of printed publications for families and schools in the South West of England, East Anglia and Scotland. These include the highly successful and popular Primary Times magazines for Cornwall, Devon, Plymouth, Dorset, Norfolk, and Edinburgh published under franchise licences.
What problems were you having with your IT systems?
Technology is so important to us, as everything runs to deadline. If we have server issues or problems with our systems, we need things back up and running almost immediately. If you miss your deadline, you miss your print slot, distribution and delivery.
Our server was on its last legs. We were originally backing up to discs and it was really stressful making sure you change it at the end of every day. The company we had been using were pushing us down a route that we didn’t really like. We didn’t have a say on what server we wanted or how we wanted our backups to run, so we started looking around.
Why did you choose CSG?
Everyone at CSG we have met with have been so helpful. Our account manager, Ricky, is really down to earth and always at the end of the phone. We weren’t getting the personal approach we liked with our incumbent but we felt we could get that with CSG.
With the situation we were in, we needed a provider that could come in, hit the ground running and take everything over. CSG met all of those requirements.

What did CSG do in the beginning?
A Solutions Architect came down to audit all of systems. They could see that our way of backing up was dated and putting the company at risk, so they recommended we make the switch to the cloud, and update our hardware along with it.
What improvements have you seen since switching?
There are no hidden surprises with CSG. We know where we stand, what work needs doing and when it needs doing by. There is little disruption to our day-to-day activities and now we are backing up to the cloud, we don’t have to worry about changing tapes at the end of the day.
We needed new everything and now we have new storage, and have gone from being able to be back up and running on the old system within two days, to within two hours, our team know their work is safe if anything were to happen and it wouldn’t impact the business.
