We love our data centre. It's true. The building where the CSG data centre is housed has an infrastructure that provides critical services including power and cooling.
It houses the hardware, software and high speed communication connections required to run customer websites and other E-commerce facilities.
Our tier three centre exceeds all tier one and tier two expectations and requirements.
We ensure that all multiple independent distribution paths serving the IT equipment are in place, equipment is dual-powered and fully compatible with the site and that the centre maintains infrastructure with expected availability of 99.82%.
But what about how it works? What security is in place? What protection is in place?
Only certain members of the team have access to the data centre and they have to request a visit, in writing, with a timestamp before they can go.
Once there, they have to go through bio metric identification. The great thing? Their fingerprint will not work on the scanner until the exact time they stated they would be arriving.
They also need a visit pass and a form of identification to prove they are who they say they are. This certainly helps stop people who shouldn’t be there.
The facility also has 24/7 on-site security and 2.8m razor wire prison fencing. We guarantee the only people accessing your hardware is our engineers or yourselves.
Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA) is installed in every facility. These sensitive, two-stage detectors are linked to the Data Centre Infrastructure Management System. They are monitored continually from our network operations centre. VESDA detectors work by sucking air in continuously from the room and then sampling the air quality as it passes through for any smoke.
They are used when there is a need for a high smoke sensitivity, so are perfect for our data centres. The detectors have multi-level warnings allowing us to catch even small levels of smoke, so we can react before any damage is caused. We have detectors all around our facilities. Crucially, near sources where an electrical fire could start and where the smoke could travel because of the air conditioning. VESDA is specifically designed to protect data centres from fires, and the smoke detection is key to protecting the lives of people who work in the buildings, the servers and protecting business continuity.
Cold Aisle Containment
Cooling methods are crucial in most data centres, as it provides the optimum temperature for your IT equipment. Preventing the need for early hardware refreshes which will save you time and money. Cold Aisle Containment is simple. It separates cold air from the hot air, allowing the cold air to cool the servers. This process stops servers from overheating.
What other benefits does it have?
It’s cost effective. It uses significantly less energy than other cooling methods, saving you money on your bills. Cold Aisle Containment is versatile. It is something that can be used in all data centres and since other options can be much more expensive and less effective, it is a good system to put in place.
If your data centre is an obscure shape, small or large, you can even have a tailor made option so you can benefit from it as well. Since Cold Aisle Containment is so effective, it allows servers to work at optimum levels without straining them. This in turn increases the lifespan of the product, saving you money.
100% Power Uptime
Date centre uptime is a top priority for CSG, which is why we are committed to providing 100% power uptime.
Our continuous power, provided by uninterruptible power supply (UPS) battery systems, means that if there was ever an outage at our facility, the generators would kick in immediately, guaranteeing uptime for your business.
It works by supplying energy that has been stored in batteries, if the main source of electricity was to fail for some reason. Our data centres also have another fail-safe if something were to happen to the UPS systems, so we know that we can always provide backup power until the electricity comes back on.
