Gas World, established in 1981, offers renewable energy sources as well as heating and plumbing across the South West of England. With aging internal systems and its prime state with unsupported operating systems, they asked us to advise on and recommend a solution that would improve productivity as well as provide a solid business continuity plan.
Proposals and Recommendations
Following a full audit, we recommended that they implement a virtualised HP server environment operating MS Windows Server 2016 host with email services migrated to the cloud. We then recommended enhanced cyber security with a next-gen firewall with traffic shaping, bandwidth management and robust and resilient endpoint security.
As all of the other providers approached by the firm were only offering onsite replication, which would leave the firm vulnerable in the event of an onsite threat, such as a natural disaster or theft, CSG migrated existing services onto the CSG BUDR service, which is fully backed up to the cloud. Gas World were moved over to the CSG MSP 360° Programme, where their systems are monitored on 24/7 basis.
Since Gas World switched to CSG’s MSP 360° Programme, they have experienced a variety of benefits. These include an extremely reliable and simple backup and recovery service fully managed by the CSG Helpdesk team. Importantly, they have also integrated an enhanced security solution across the board in readiness for the GDPR (May 25th) and their ongoing, in house certifications. The new IT system and network design will lead to increased support response times and cut down on general troubleshooting.
