The Welsh Wound Innovation Centre (WWIC) is the first national wound healing centre worldwide and is the flagship facility for clinical innovation in Wales.  WWIC has a vital role in Wales’ economic development, helping to accelerate growth by stimulating and supporting business-led innovation in wound care.

The WWIC vision is to transform the management and delivery of better wound health care (prevention and treatment) via a coordinated, facilitated network approach to meet the needs of our stakeholders and customers.

The Background

The Background

CSG was successful in Welsh Wound’s tender selection process in 2018 and committed to an IT Managed Service with us in January 2019, which they have just renewed for an extended period following the successful transition and support provided to date. WWIC has an internal IT Officer and is reliant on CSG for third-line support and consultancy around their IT infrastructure, Office 365, Backups and Security.

The Result

The Result

CSG discussed Welsh Wound’s Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) with the in-house IT Officer and backups were deployed at the inception of the agreement. A retention period was agreed upon and automated backups were configured to both a local device, as well as CSG’s Data Centre, ensuring backups were in place should WWIC encounter any hardware failures and/or site disasters.

WWIC’s Cisco firewall was approaching end-of-life with no further licence/maintenance agreements available; CSG proactively recommended a Sophos XG firewall to replace the existing device, which provides secure SSL-VPN connectivity for remote users, as well as enhancing both network and web protection.

Connectivity was historically provided by a third-party and CSG migrated WWIC to a 100-100Mbps leased line and oversaw the transition from the existing service, managing all aspects of the project from start to finish.

Dameon Merilaht, Account Manager said:

“CSG has worked closely with WWIC for the last 3 years from both a support and project perspective; we have a solid understanding of their needs and through proactive engagement with Pramod, we look forward to undertaking the upcoming projects highlighted within the IT strategy we have developed”

“CSG has always delivered exactly what they said they would when they visited a few years back, and on that basis, we have renewed the service with them. Dameon and I meet regularly to review the services provided by CSG and to make sure all our licensing is in order, ensuring we’re not paying for anything that we shouldn’t be, and has kept me up to date on any industry changes; most recently the Microsoft NCE changes which I was aware of, but did not have a solid understanding until he educated me on this. I’m looking forward to the upcoming projects we have on our radar, and would strongly recommend speaking with Dameon/CSG should you be reviewing any aspects of your IT environment. I have already introduced CSG to other organisations and will continue to do so should service levels remain as are. Thank you, CSG! “
